E-mail can be such a waste, can't it? E-mails without a subject line or a useless one are my No.1 pet peeve. So, I was heartened to read "Rita's rules for emails" by Rita Gunther McGrath. That’s her No. 1 peeve, as well. So, she advises, don't say in the subject line "Thursday's meeting." Say "followup expected by client from Thursday's meeting." Some other rules are to have one subject per e-mail; don’t send an e-mail when a short phone call would do the trick; and limit the size of the e-mail to one screen of information.
