A Harris County man has non-suited a lawsuit he filed against Houston solo practitioner Elizabeth Bruman.
Thomas Konnethu alleged in a petition filed on Aug. 18 that he paid her a $25,000 retainer to appeal a federal court judgment against him, but she “never appealed the cases as she had represented to Plaintiff she would.”
In an interview on Aug. 23, Bruman said she did file an appeal on Konnethu’s behalf, but filed a motion to dismiss it with his permission. She also alleged in that interview that she gave him a partial refund, even though he alleged in the petition that she “repeatedly refused” to refund the $25,000 retainer.
On Sept. 11, Konnethu filed a motion to non-suit, and on Sept. 12, 125th District Judge Kyle Carter signed an order of non-suit.
Konnethu’s attorney, Donald T. Cheatham, a solo practitioner in Houston, declines comment on why his client sought a non-suit.
