Austin-based Reid Collins & Tsai opened a Dallas office on Aug. 26 with two partners who formerly worked at Diamond McCarthy in Dallas.
“It’s an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic firm with smart, efficient lawyers who consistently deliver great results,” Madden says.
“They work on the same sort of cases that I have been working on at Diamond McCarthy, and it’s a young, exciting, growing firm, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of it,” King says.
William Reid (pictured third), a founding partner in Reid Collins, says it makes sense for his firm to have an office in Dallas because a major client, Highland Capital Management, is based in Dallas. He says the firm’s practice is national, however. He says the firm’s niche is insolvency-related litigation, representing bankruptcy trustees and liquidators, and the firm does a lot of director-and-officer liability and professional liability work as a part of that practice.
“We have been friends for a long time,” Madden says. “Bill Reid and I started at Diamond McCarthy about six months after the firm was founded 13 years ago.”
In addition to Austin and Dallas, Reid Collins has offices in New York City and Washington, D.C. With Madden and King, the firm has 20 lawyers.
Allan Diamond of Houston, managing partner of Diamond McCarthy, did not immediately return a telephone message.
