The clerk’s office will take appointments and walk-in customers.
District Clerk Chris Daniel says the initial passport application office will be located in the Harris County Civil Courthouse, but as demand increases, he hopes to open branch offices in other county buildings. Seven employees of the clerk’s office are currently training to learn the passport application process, Daniel says.
On July 23, the Harris County Commissioners’ Court paved the way for providing the passport service when it approved a $10 photo fee and a $25 processing fee for the passport applications. The clerk’s office will charge a standard fee of $110 plus $25 for passport processing, and passport photos will cost $10.
Daniel says the Harris County Clerk’s Office joins about 150 other clerk’s offices in Texas that already process passport applications.
