Baker Botts announced March 19 that David Sterling, a partner in the firm’s Houston office, has been named chairman of the firmwide litigation department.
Sterling (pictured) says he assumes management of the department from Robb Voyles, who had been the chairman since March 2005. Voyles, a partner in the Dallas office, will continue to serve on the Baker Botts executive committee, says Sterling, who also is an executive committee member.
After earning his J.D. with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1984, Sterling joined Baker Botts as an associate. He says he made partner in 1991.
Sterling has chaired Baker Botts’ securities and shareholder litigation practice group since 2010 and says he will remain in that position “at least for a little while.” He says his practice consists largely of securities and shareholder litigation, representing boards of directors who have been sued by shareholders or are involved in other litigation.
