Steptoe & Johnson has opened an office in The Woodlands — the firm’s second in the Houston area — to serve its international and U.S. energy clients.
Andrew Graham (pictured), managing member in The Woodlands, says the firm opened the new office Jan. 22 in Waterway Plaza II. Graham says the firm has 13 attorneys in The Woodlands office, with one more associate scheduled to join in March.
At full staff, the office is expected to have about 30 attorneys, Graham says. “We’ve rented the space for that many people,” he says.
Graham, a 2004 graduate of West Virginia University College of Law, says he moved from Steptoe’s office in Morgantown, W.V., to open the new office. He says he joined Steptoe in 2005 and focuses his practice on Appalachian Basin title work and transactions.
Among those joining Graham in The Woodlands are Philip Vasquez, head of the firm’s international energy practice; George A. Snell, who has been a solo practitioner in Amarillo and has 30 years experience in Texas oil and gas; and Jim Nicas, the firm’s senior title attorney for the Appalachian Basin. All three are of counsel at Steptoe.
Graham says Vasquez was deputy assistant secretary of the Office of Natural Gas and Petroleum Technology at the U.S. Department of Energy during President Bill Clinton’s administration and also has served as oil and gas legal advisor to the Ministry of Mines of Afghanistan.
The address for the new office is 10001 Woodloch Forest Drive, Suite 300, The Woodlands, Texas 77380.
