Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has announced that 11 of its attorneys firmwide, including two in Texas, became partners on Jan. 1.
One of the new partners is Michelle Reed (pictured), the mother of four children ages 5 and under, who says she works in Akin Gump’s Dallas office on a flex time arrangement.
“It’s a great firm to work for,” says Reed, who was a counsel at Akin Gump prior to her promotion.
Reed says she joined Akin Gump in 2003 after graduating summa cum laude from J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. She says her practice focuses on complicated civil litigation matters, with an emphasis on defending companies, their officers and directors when they are sued or face investigations or enforcement actions by the Securities and Exchange Commission or other federal agencies.
Another new partner is Gabriel J. Procaccini, who has been a counsel in Akin Gump’s Houston office.
Procaccini says he is a 2004 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and joined Akin Gump in March 2007. He says he has an energy and global transactions practice, primarily representing domestic and international oil and gas companies. That includes mergers and acquisitions for companies involved in exploration and production or midstream work, he says.
