C. Walker Brierre joined Thompson & Knight on Jan. 7 as an associate in the firm’s corporate and securities practice group in Houston.
Brierre says his transactional practice involves a combination of mergers and acquisition, securities offerings and related compliance work.
Before joining Thompson & Knight, he was an associate at Schulte Roth & Zabel in New York City, Brierre says. He says he was a summer associate at Schulte Roth before graduating magna cum laude from Tulane University Law School in 2009.
Brierre says that after he graduated from law school, Schulte Roth made him an offer that was deferred for a year while he worked for Community Resource Exchange, a New York City-based nonprofit that helps grassroots organizations with all facets of their operations. Working under the supervision of Schulte Roth attorneys, he served as the nonprofit’s assistant general counsel, Brierre says.
“It ended up being a really great work experience for a year,” he says.
