Former Thompson & Knight partners William T. Heller IV and Harry R. Beaudry have joined Mayer Brown as partners in its corporate and securities practice in Houston.
Both Heller and Beaudry say most of their corporate and securities practice focuses on the energy industry, with an emphasis on representing oil and gas exploration and production companies and oil field services companies.
One of the reasons they decided to make the move, Heller and Beaudry say, is because Mayer Brown is growing its Houston energy practice.
“I was attracted to Mayer Brown’s commitment to grow in Houston and also to grow its energy practice,” says Beaudry (pictured).
Heller and Beaudry also say they were attracted to Mayer Brown because of the people at the firm.
“I have a lot of former colleagues who are here,” Heller says.
Heller (pictured) says he is a 1991 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law and joined Brown, Parker & Leahy after graduation. After he became a partner in Brown, Parker in 1999, the firm merged with Thompson & Knight, he says.
Beaudry says he worked as a business and management consultant at MetLife in New York City before he went to law school. He received a J.D. from UT law school in 2000, he says.
His activities include serving as chairman of the Houston Bar Association Corporate Counsel Section, Beaudry says.
