The Anti-Defamation League Southwest Region has named Lynne Liberato (pictured), a partner in Haynes and Boone in Houston, the recipient of the 2013 Karen H. Susman Jurisprudence Award in recognition of her commitment to equality, justice, fairness and community service.
“I think it’s one of the most prestigious honors a lawyer in Houston can get, and I’m thrilled to get it,” Liberato says. “The lawyers picked are known to be really good lawyers and to find time to contribute to their community.”
Liberato served as president of the State Bar of Texas in 2000-2001 and also served as president of the Houston Bar Association and the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society. She says she is a past chairwoman of the board of United Way of Greater Houston and currently chairs the United Way THRIVE.
“It’s a collaborative whose goal is to help lift hard-working families out of poverty,” Liberato says. She says people living in poverty have multiple problems, which THRIVE tries to help them address.
Liberato will receive the award at a March 19 luncheon in Houston.
