McKool Smith has announced the promotion of eight attorneys, including four in Texas, to principals in the firm, effective Jan. 1.
Mike McKool, the firm’s co-founder and chairman, says the Texas associates promoted to principals are Ramzi Khazen of Austin, Christopher Bovenkamp, Steven Callahan and Jason Cassady of Dallas.
As noted on the McKool Smith website, Khazen graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 2003; Bovenkamp graduated magna cum laude from the Texas Tech University School of Law in 1998; Callahan graduated from Harvard Law School in 2004; and Cassady graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2004. All four have practices involving intellectual property, according to the website.
McKool says the promotions enhance the new principals’ “ability to attract business and have people recognize them as successful lawyers.” The firm gets the benefit of their business generation, he says.
