Bowing to what’s already happened in the market, Beck Redden & Secrest of Houston has changed its name to Beck Redden.
“We brought in a consultant to look at our website and determine if we need to make any changes, and, based on the work they did, they reported to us the marketplace had already changed our firm name,” partner David Beck says. “All the judges, the lawyers we deal with, including clients, were already referring to us as Beck Redden.”
The firm has adopted the new moniker, although it’s not official until Jan. 1, 2013, Beck says.
Beck says the firm has been Beck Redden & Secrest since 1992, when he, Joe Redden Jr. and Ron Secrest founded the litigation boutique. Because Secrest died in 2000, Beck says the firm’s partners didn’t agree to change the name without some “anguish.”
“Ron Secrest was just a terrific lawyer and a wonderful person,” Beck says.
