Jennifer Nelsen (pictured), a litigation associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges in Houston, is a new member of the Nature Discovery Center’s board of directors.
Nelsen says she received an Oct. 23 letter inviting her to join the board and accepted that invitation Nov. 1.
Located in Bellaire, the center began as a grassroots effort in 1979 with the formation of Friends of Bellaire Parks Inc., Nelsen says. She says the center provides hands-on science learning opportunities.
“It’s all about getting kids in the outdoors and teaching them about nature and their environment,” Nelsen says.
Nelsen is a 2007 cum laude graduate of New York Law School. She says she worked two years as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Melinda Harmon before joining Weil in 2009.
