Dallas solo Carol Barger began serving on the board of directors for the Texas Access to Justice Foundation in September.
“I’m delighted to have the chance to serve,” Barger says. “It’s my heart’s desire to have all Texans represented.”
Barger says State Bar of Texas president Buck Files appointed her for a three-year term on the Access to Justice Foundation board, which seeks funding sources to provide civil legal services to low-income Texans.
“I started my legal career as a legal aid lawyer,” Barger says, noting that she opened the East Texas Legal Services office in Longview in 1977 and later opened the Southwest regional office of Consumers Union in Austin.
Barger says she currently does pro bono work for non-profits.
