If you have an opinion on the federal rules of practice and procedure, the Judicial Conference of the United States wants to hear from you. The judicial conference’s advisory committees on appellate, bankruptcy, criminal and evidence rules have proposed changes to forms and rules.
While there is much to absorb, Julie Wilson, an attorney in the Rules Committee Support Office of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, says the changes will be of particular interest to bankruptcy attorneys. Most of the changes are to Part VIII of the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, which deals with bankruptcy appeals, she says.
“It’s a complete redo of the appellate bankruptcy rules,” Wilson says.
The comment period ends on Feb. 15, 2013.
