Valeri Williams (pictured) and James Sears Bryant have joined Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker in Dallas as of counsel. Both earned their law degrees from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
Williams became a lawyer after a 20-year career as a journalist in Dallas. She says that her background as an investigative journalist helps her in her law practice in that she typically has clients with complex legal issues that “require more than sitting there and giving legal advice.”
Williams practices in complex litigation and is focusing on employment law, including areas such as trade secrets and noncompete issues. She says she does litigation and helps clients deal with media issues.
“I have expertise that a lot of clients haven’t had the opportunity to be exposed to,” she says.
Bryant works with higher education institutions and conferences and has previously worked as in-house counsel and at firms. He earned a doctorate in education in 2007 and says it was helpful to get that perspective to aid his law practice.
“I’m very excited to have this national firm behind me,” Bryant says. “These are great lawyers and this is a great opportunity.”
