Mary Alice McLarty (pictured), of McLarty Pope in Dallas, has been announced as the 2012-2013 president of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). McLarty practices catastrophic injury cases. She earned her law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law.
Part of McLarty’s job as president of AAJ, she says, is travelling around the United States and speaking.
“During my presidency, I really want to rejuvenate our nonprofit, Trial Lawyers Care (TLC),” she says. TLC originated in 2001 to give pro bono representation to victims of 9/11, McLarty says. Going forward, the group will help with disasters and focus on safety, she says. Recently, TLC has given away air conditioners to those in need, and members have given presentations about distracted driving, McLarty says.
McLarty says, “My main mission is to make sure that the court house stays accessible to all people and to preserve the trial by jury.”
Lisa Blue Baron, of Baron & Blue in Dallas, was named vice president of AAJ.
