Vince Murchison (pictured) has formed the Murchison Law Firm, focusing on regulatory, operational and transactional matters for the energy pipeline industry. He says a combination of factors led to him starting his own firm.
“The level of activity in the industry and my expertise in the pipeline space all collaborated to make it a good time,” he says.
“Five years ago I probably wouldn’t have considered it,” Murchison says. “I had discussions with other folks, and that sort of caused things to take shape.”
Murchison says he plans to expand the firm at some point, but for now the focus will be on the pipeline industry.
“I’ve always done upstream work, exploration and production,” Murchison says. “That will always be a component of the firm; part of the objective is to emphasize my expertise in the pipeline space.”
“I’ve always had an interest in the oil and gas business,” Murchison says. “My maternal grandfather was in the business. I spent a lot of time in Odessa. The opportunity came up after law school, and I got deeper and deeper into the pipeline world.”
