With Hurricane Isaac expected to make landfall in southeastern Louisiana tonight or tomorrow morning, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans is closed today and Aug. 29. According to information on the 5th Circuit’s website, the clerk’s office will reopen at 9 a.m. on Aug. 30. Cases on the oral argument calendar in New Orleans for Sept. 4 through Sept. 7 “will be heard as scheduled,” the clerk’s office reports on the website.
Kyle Boudreaux, 5th Circuit assistant circuit executive, says courthouses in the Eastern and Middle Districts of Louisiana are also closed. Houston, Galveston and other Texas operations within the 5th Circuit are "going as normal," he adds.
