To have any hope of getting a seat, lawyers had to arrive early for the popular State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting session, “60 Apps in 60 Minutes: A Survey of the Most Useful Legal Apps for Lawyers.”
Arriving on time meant sitting or standing along the walls to listen to lawyers Ronald Chichester, Grant Scheiner and Mark Unger deliver a rapid-fire list of apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
“We ask the State Bar for a bigger room every year,” says Ralph Brock, chairman of the State Bar Computer and Technology Section, which organizes the 60 apps session. Brock, a Lubbock solo, adds, “Some of us were joking, saying the next thing they’ll have to do is put us in the ballroom.”
He notes the room this year had 200 seats, which were all filled, and lawyers lined all three walls shoulder-to-shoulder. It’s the first year the section offered the popular session on both days of the annual meeting.
