Allan Van Fleet (pictured) has joined McDermott Will & Emery in Houston as a partner in the firm’s antitrust and competition practice group, along with associate Nicholas Grimmer. Van Fleet and Grimmer joined McDermott from Greenberg Traurig’s Houston office.
“I am making the move to step up my antitrust game with some of the very best people in the world,” says Van Fleet, who says he’s excited to work again with Allison Smith, former U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division deputy assistant attorney general. (Van Fleet and Smith once worked together at Vinson & Elkins.)
Steven Spears, partner-in-charge of McDermott’s Houston office, says, “Allan brings a lot to the office.” Van Fleet says his clients include The Kansas City Southern Railway Co. of Kansas City, Mo. He says he spent Monday and Tuesday moving into his new office.
In a written statement, Douglas Atnipp, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Houston office, writes, "Allan is a fine lawyer. We wish him the best with his new firm."
