The once-proud Dallas firm Vial Hamilton Koch & Knox closed its doors in 2007. Yet the firm lives on in an original petition in Vial Hamilton Koch & Knox v. Jack Durland Jr., filed Sept. 1 in Dallas’ 116th District Court. Even though the firm technically doesn’t exist any longer, it still wants to get paid, according to the petition. “Plaintiff provided legal representation and advanced costs on behalf of Defendant. Defendant, however, has failed and refused to pay the amounts due for legal services rendered and costs advanced on Defendant’s behalf during the course of the representation,” the petition states. Robert E. Jenkins, a partner in Dallas’ Jenkins Babb who represents Vial Hamilton, did not return a call for comment. Neither did Durland nor James "Sandy" McCorquodal, the last Vial Hamilton managing partner, who is now with Dallas’ AM Lawyers.
