Lawyers who want to see retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor today in Austin will have to stand in line. O’Connor is scheduled to speak at 6 p.m. at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library & Museum, sharing the stage and “a wide-ranging conversation” with Larry Temple, who is chairman of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation and a lawyer, according to Anne Wheeler, communications director for the LBJ Library and Museum. Tickets distributed for the free event went fast. So Wheeler says those seeking to hear the first woman appointed to the high court must wait in a standby line, and they will get in only if seats open up with no-shows. O’Connor was appointed by then-President Ronald Reagan in 1981 and served for 25 years on the court.
