Fort Worth’s 360th District Court Judge Debra Lehrmann, the Republican nominee for Place 3 on the Texas Supreme Court, will get an opportunity beginning next month to find out what it’s like to serve on the state’s highest civil court. Gov. Rick Perry announced today that he has appointed Lehrmann, a family law judge, to replace Justice Harriet O’Neill, who is stepping down. According to a press release from the governor’s office, Lehrmann’s appointment is effective June 21 for a term to expire as of the Nov. 2 general election. Lehrmann faces Democrat Jim Sharp, a justice on Houston’s 1st Court of Appeals, in November. Lehrmann and Sharp did not immediately return telephone calls seeking comment.
