Feb. 17 was an important day for Dallas lawyer Jason Loden (pictured). He was up for partner in Thompson & Knight, and he knew firm partners were meeting that afternoon for the partnership vote. "I was waiting around to learn my fate," recalls Loden, who joined the firm in 2007 after practicing in Mississippi. During the partnership meeting on Feb. 17, a corporate partner sent Loden an email message from his BlackBerry, to give Loden the good news that he had been voted into the partnership. "After that, some of the partners from my section came into my office and told me the news and congratulated me," says Loden, a 2000 graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Law. His first call was to his wife, Beth. "She was very excited and happy for me. She's seen me work pretty hard," he says. Because they had a new baby at the time, along with a 5-year-old, he and his wife actually didn't get to celebrate on Feb. 17. "I had to go home and help with our 2-month-old. Eventually my wife and I went out to dinner," he says, noting that they went to one of their favorite places in Dallas, Maguire's.
