Houston’s 14th Court of Appeals Justice Jeff Brown (pictured) has taken the first step necessary to seek the Republican nomination for Place 3 on the Texas Supreme Court in 2010. Brown, who Gov. Rick Perry first appointed to the 14th Court in 2007, was elected to the court in 2008. Tuesday he filed a treasurer designation to run for Justice Harriet O’Neill’s seat on the high court. O’Neill has opted not to seek re-election. Scott Rozzell, general counsel at CenterPoint Energy who formerly practiced with Brown in Baker Botts’ Houston office, is serving as Brown’s campaign treasurer.
