Add Tracy Christopher, judge of the 295th District Court in Harris County, to what is becoming a long list of people applying to Gov. Rick Perry’s office for the appointment to replace retiring Texas Supreme Court Justice Scott Brister. In fact, Christopher is filling out the appointment application documents even as you read this. “I’m still working on it. But I hope to get it out today or tomorrow,’’ Christopher says. “I am interested, but I know it’s a long shot.” Christopher, a Republican, says she’s running again for trial court bench in 2010. But if she got appointed to the high court in the meantime, who could turn that down? “It would be a great honor to be on the Texas Supreme Court,” she says.
