Dallas firm Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr is going where young lawyers go, launching a firm page on Facebook, the online social networking site originally targeted to college students. The goal is to increase the firm’s visibility among young lawyers and law students. The page includes information about the firm and its summer associate program, photos, videos, a discussion board, and even a poll asking students how many weeks they prefer for a summer clerk program. Kitty O’Connell Henry (pictured), a co-chair of the firm’s law school hiring committee, says she hopes the Facebook page will help the firm recruit law students and lateral hires. She says information on the Facebook page will help sell the firm and hopefully answer some of the questions students and young lawyers have about Munsch Hardt. Young associates at the firm are enthused about the Facebook page, Henry says. “We have video clips of four of our youngest associates, who talk about our culture and how they feel about the firm. It’s great,” she says. In a press release about the new Facebook page, Glenn Callison, the firm’s CEO, says it’s important to take advantage of new media to “reach the next generation of firm leaders.” The Munsch Hardt Facebook page isn’t going to be a place to see wild pictures of young lawyers -- or firm veterans. The firm cautions lawyers and students to use discretion when posting on the page. “If you would not want a colleague or family member to see it, please do not post it on our page. Also, our usual privacy rules apply. Please no mention of specific matters or cases,” a disclaimer reads. “In addition, we will not use Facebook as a way to look into your personal life. We respect your privacy and understand Facebook is a personal social forum.”
