The votes are in for the 2008 ABA Journal Blawg 100 readers’ poll, and Houston attorney Mark Bennett, a partner in Bennett & Bennett, is the top vote-getter in the crime category for his Defending People blog, which received 216 votes. (In the interest of full disclosure, Texas Lawyer's Tex Parte blog was also named to the ABA Journal's list of the top 100 law-related blogs in the regional category, but alas, we did not take top honors.) Bennett says he received a badge to post on his blog site in recognition of the honor. But Bennett isn’t taking this recognition all that seriously. “It’s a strange, strange little honor,” he says. “Best blog competitions, I think, are popularity contests. I think there are better criminal law blogs out there.” Notes Bennett, “I’m sure the clients will love it.”
