How Texas charities spend money

Do you want to know how a charity in Texas might use the money you plan to donate? To provide greater transparency of charities, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott today started a new online service that will allow users to search Texas charitable organizations’ tax filings with the Internal Revenue Service. Charities that receive more than $100,000 in contributions and have assets of more than $250,000 must file with the IRS an annual return that shows their financial activity for the previous year. The new resource is available by clicking the “Charity Search" button on the Office of the Attorney General’s Web site: www.texasattorneygeneral.gov.
